Have you ever imagined what it’s like to go to boarding school?

You probably didn’t imagine it looking quite like IMG Academy if you have. IMG Academy boasts multiple sport-specific training fields, tennis courts, a golf course, and a performance center. All this may seem distracting for high schoolers, but that is precisely what differentiates IMG.

To go with IMG’s state-of-the-art training facilities, they are equipped with high-level athletic trainers, attracting the attention of promising athletes worldwide. Recently, IMG Academy has worked with J.J. McCarthy, national champion and former quarterback for the University of Michigan, and Zach Edey, center for the University of Purdue Men’s Basketball team.

Andre Agassi, a tennis legend, also attended there before it was named IMG Academy and was called Nick Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy. The story goes, that Agassi’s father could only afford 3 months of training for his son, but after a session with Andre, Bollettieri refunded the money and allowed him to continue for free. Agassi went on to win 8 grand slams and an Olympic gold medal, making him one of the school’s most notable alumni and one of many success stories from athletes at IMG.

Located in the tropical Bradenton-Sarasota metropolitan area, IMG Academy has sports resort-esque weather and living conditions. Athletes are offered college-like dormitories, but the academy also offers living arrangements for their families if needed. The dormitories offer nutritious meals for student-athletes every day, as nutrition is considered part of the training regimen.

Student-athletes (or anyone visiting the area) can enjoy the Gulf Coast breeze or the Manatee River locally in their free time. On the weekends, maybe a 50-minute drive to the lively city of Tampa is fitting.
