26.2 miles west of Boston lies a quaint, wooded town called Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Incorporated in 1715, Hopkinton did not miss out on any of the charm of other New England gems.

Boston Marathon Starting Line
One of Hopkinton's biggest honors and tourism drivers is hosting the iconic Boston Marathon. The starting line of this world-renowned race attracts visitors from around the globe as well as gets many of the town’s locals out and full of energy. The race begins downtown at Hopkinton’s Town Common, a beloved area by those who call Hopkinton home. This outdoor common area is where all the big events like the Boston Marathon, concerts, and markets happen. Within the Hopkinton Historic District, “the common” is superbly maintained and is surrounded by many other preserved historic buildings. We recommend the Polyart festival in September, where artisans from across New England set up their shops for the community and visitors to come and try!

The park offers various recreational activities for visitors of all ages, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Just a 7-minute drive from the Town Common, Whitehall State Park is another beautiful place to see. The park is known for its reservoir, which is perfect for fishing (ice-fishing in the winter) and boating. Whitehall Reservoir is a great spot to use the kayaks!

Downtown Dining
Despite being a small-ish town of about 16,000 people, there are many different dining options depending on your taste. There are traditional American grilles, such as Grill Hopkinton. If you are looking for something more exotic, there’s Pan Thai and Ko’s Sushi for Asian cuisine and Carbone’s and Quattro for Italian dishes.
