Saratoga Springs, founded in the late 18th century, was actually once home to Native American tribes. The mineral springs were of great value to them because they were thought to have certain healing properties! After the official establishment of Saratoga Springs in 1819, it flourished as a popular health and spa resort destination. Wealthy visitors from across the nation would travel here to reap the therapeutic benefits of the mineral waters.

The Saratoga Race Course, established in 1863, is one of the oldest thoroughbred horse racing tracks in the United States. The track has earned the moniker "The Graveyard of Champions" for its reputation for producing unexpected outcomes. That means you sports bettors may want to steer away!
The Saratoga Race Course hosts the annual summer meet, a highlight of the racing calendar, attracting both the racing gooroos and visitors. The meet spans six weeks, typically from late July to early September, and features a lineup of prestigious races, including the Travers Stakes, also known as the "Mid-Summer Derby."
